well, this should help us getting marginal calls in the future. nobody bitches about umpiring more than i do but for our field general to say this in the press?

I read something on hardball talk that had an interesting take...that, where possible, they shouldn't show the replay officials what the original call was...or at a minimum they shouldn't take that in to account when reviewing the replay. There's no reason to give the onfield ump the benefit of the doubt. Let the technology help get the call right.

 

The tag play was tough...but it was pretty clear Pujols was safe. There's been some pretty bad non replay calls lately.

But but.  Replay is the end all that is supposed to fix all the mistakes.  

 

The only thing replay has done, is prevented the fan from getting entertained by a trantrum by the player and/or manager.  Other than that, the change has been minimal.  Replay should only be used for playoff games.

Agreed, and also his crappy bullpen beyond Smith and Street plus Ramos vs lefties

 

But yeah, the umps have gotten even worse since Country Bumpkin Joe West took over heading that group.
