Chargers, Raiders discuss plan to share new stadium in Carson

Los Angeles expansion is the hot topic at NFL owners’ meeting

This is what is going to happen IMO.  You can't get 3 teams in LA.  Just can't.  That might kill the Carson project.

Kroenke has the best plan, since he has the financing and land.  Even though St Louis might be giving the Rams the best stadium plan.  Kroenke is also worth $7.6 billion according to Forbes.

So this is what I think is going to happen.

Kroenke will be given the green light.  But he will have to pay the Chargers a territorial infringement fee of $500 million, that will go towards the new stadium in San Diego.  Raiders will be told to sit quiet for now.  The league will get a big relocation fee from Kroenke also, like a billion.  So he pays $1.5 billion + $1ish billion for the stadium or $2.5 billion est.  According to Forbes, Cowboys are valued at $4 billion.  Rams at $1.45 billion.  A team in LA with it's own stadium will be closer to if not more than the Cowboys, see Clippers.  So $1.45 + $2.5 is still less than the $4 billion+ it will probably be worth.

So Kroenke will get a new stadium in Los Angeles.  The Chargers will get a new stadium in San Diego.  Which means St Louis will suck it.  But it's better than San Diego and St Louis sucking it.  Raiders will be in limbo.

Then the NFL will announce their plan to expand to Britain.  British Raiders, entire new territory for them.  Of course Britain will have to build a stadium or partially for them.

2 new territories, LA and Britain.  3 new stadiums.  1 suck it.  With a huge new expansion of the client base.

Rams are the fifth LEAST valuable team in the NFL.  There is no way they're going to go from that far down the list to #1 because they built a stadium and moved to LA.  That behemoth of a stadium in Dallas is part of the reason the Cowboys are so valuable, but it's also the marketing.  Jerry Jones sued the NFL back in the mid-90s to get the marketing rights back for the Cowboys.  All the teams in the NFL are marketed by well, the NFL.  They all share the profits when it comes to marketing.  The only exception is the Dallas Cowboys.  The Cowboys are the only team in the NFL that owns 100% of their rights.  So they can enter any marketing deals they want and they keep all the money from them.  The Rams will definitely be more marketable in Los Angeles.  But they'll still be sharing the pot with the rest of the NFL.

The clippers sold for 2 billion! The sister team to the LA lakers. Forbes list the lakers at 2.6 billion as of Jan 2015, but imo could sell for more than that.

You gotta think a nfl franchise in LA is going to be worth somewhere around that. The nfl is king right now in American sports.

Now I don't think the Rams raiders or chargers would be #1 on team value but you gotta think it would land them between 5 and 10?

All 3 combined might be valued @ $5 billion

If the chargers go to LA, they'll be walking into a situation where they have little fan base and support and will be second fiddle to the friggin raiders and third fiddle if the rams come too. The san Diego fan base will abandon them, aside from the die hard fans and the small fan base in LA. Most charger"home" games will be away games with visiting fans invading the stadium, or no one showing up at all if they're playing the jags, panthers, bills etc

I hope their dumb owners realize how crappy of a situation it will be for the team. Much worse than having a crappy stadium in a city that will actually support you.

If numbers are still the same, San Diego is the 8th largest market in the US. Not quite a small market.

And that's the point, they are the #1 option and have to push before game days to meet the blackout requirements.

They wouldn't even thing of moving if they were as strong as you think.

hahaha!!  Small market!  The 3 million residents in the SD metropolitan area is 16th in the league, right in the middle.  Also bigger than:

Jacksonville is the only other team there that struggles with attendance.  SD just doesn't support sports teams

I guess the fans do too, since they don't go to the current one.

And yet average home attendance last year for the chargers was middle of the pack in the NFL, and ahead of teams like the colts, Steelers, cardinals, bears, raiders and rams.

But you're right, no one goes
