The Yankees are retiring three more numbers this season: Andy Pettitte (46), Jorge Posada (20) and Bernie Williams (51). Add to that the certain retirement of Derek Jeter's #2 (the last single digit number that was in active use by the club) and they will have retired 20 numbers overall. All three players will have plaques added in Monument Park, along with Willie Randolph.

They need to change this system. It's just a number. It holds none of the weight the actual name does.

They're retiring and honoring a known PED user?  Omg thats not allowed!  Someone call the authorities!

In the not so distant future, the fat kid (Jeffrey Mayer) will get a plaque in Monument Park for his part in helping the Yankees beat the Orioles which eventually led to them to the 96 World Series.  That dude has to be the anti-Bartman in New York being celebrated to this day and bagging all the white, pasty broads.
