This is what a 2 game suspension looks like

Well then tell us what you think. Without using your TMZ schtick.

Turns out ESPN was right to be all over this.

I honestly don't care enough to elaborate, I just find it clownish to tell people on a message board what they think and feel about a situation.

In general I find the media fascination with athletes to be ridiculous. Holding them to a higher standard than Joe Coal Miner or anyone else that does the same thing is absurd, aside from suspending him for his actions then adding to what he did.....it's like they gave him 2 games for not knocking her out and then changing it because there was some new revelation.

Domestic violence happens everywhere and with people of various types, not just a casino elevator. I don't see a reason to treat it any different than others.

It's because Ray Rice lied. Or, at least, that is what Goodell is trying to make it look like in order to cover up the fact that they either didn't do their due diligence, or they blatantly ignored the 2nd video. Goodell doesn't like to be lied to. Just look at the Patriots videotape scandal and the Saints pay for performance scandal. Both cases, Goodell was lied to and he came down on them both hard. Sean Payton gets a full year suspension because he lied to Goodell about knowing about the money jar in the locker room, yet Ray Rice beats a woman senseless and he gets two games. Message: Don't lie to Goodell.

There isn't anything that suggests that he lied to Goodell. In fact he told police that he struck her in the face. One might be able to argue that in light of the so-called new evidence that his suspension should be upped to six games but the indefinite suspension makes no sense under the NFL guidelines.

If Ray Rice was Joe Coal Miner, would he have lost his job for what he did or would he just take a leave of absence for a couple of weeks, returning to work and carrying on like nothing happened?

I'm not quite sure what world you live in where your boss has placed cameras inside your home to view what you do in your own home. Not to mention, I'm sure the CEO of your company can't wait to come over to your cubicle to tell you what you can and can't do with your free time in your home.

Higher standard?  Most people who have committed a violent crime can barely get a job at McDonalds, let alone get paid millions of dollars a year.

You don't need video evidence to be charged with domestic abuse nor to lose your job because you were charged. That's the whole point. Rice would have lost his job if he worked a 9-5, whether either video was seen by the public or not. You get charged with domestic violence, you lose your job. It's pretty simple.

Correct. First hand experience that Law and Order doesn't teach you on Tuesday nights.

The reason why I know how employers would treat the situation is because it is written in the Employee handbook of every job I have had in the last 10 years. But hey, since it wasn't on NCIS I must not know anything about it.

It just doesn't make sense to me. Goodell has so far been a hard ass when it comes to off the field stuff, and he's had no problem handing out lengthy suspensions for lesser crimes. So why would he go easy on ray rice, especially if he really saw the video and decided on 2 games anyway. Doesn't add up IMO....

Also, I don't even understand why Goodell's job is on the line and why he is under so much fire...it's not like he committed the crime. yeah, he probably should have handled it better than he did, but at the end of the day ray rice is the idiot and F up who basically assaulted his wife.

I think the premise was they never had any kind of disciplinary action for this kind of crime. So they botched it because people thought it should be harder and the NFL adapted and changed the policy. The part I don't get is he said he dropped her and they issued the penalty. Even the Ravens owner said Ray didn't lie and what was on the tape is exactly what Ray said happened. So everything is done at this point. Then the video comes out and everyone is treating it like it's a different event, except the DA who treated it like every other case that comes across their desk....NJ just so happens to have a diversion program that people take part of.

I think a cover up looks bad, but again, they have too much to lose knowing a tape existed (they obviously would if they had seen it in the first place) and trying to sweep it under the rug.

This will probably be a done issue after kickoff on Sunday and when TMZPN gets back to the Redskins name and LeBron.

I think the owners will throw Goodell under the bus.  Not that I really care one way or the other but Goodell didn't render any women unconscious.  Whether or not the tape was covered up is irrelevant. The tape shows what Ray Rice said he did.  Yes it's ugly but what did we expect?  Somehow the crime is worse now that we can see the tape?  IMO Rice should serve his suspension and Goodell should not lose his job over this.

if goodell or others in his office saw the video a few months ago, why lie and say they didn't see it until this week along with the rest of us?
