This is what a 2 game suspension looks like

The league just upped it to 6 games for a first timer for domestic violence and sexual assault related issues. Why is he being suspended indefinitely?

Because the nfl and the ravens are covering their ass. They knew about the video let's be honest here. Then slap him with a 2 gamer?

Also even if they didn't see the new leaked video. What about the first video that was out? What the hell do they think happened when they saw rice dragging her dead weight body out of the elevator?

Like someone Said on twitter

The Ravens didn't release Rice after they saw the video. They released him after everyone saw the video

No, they changed the policy after the backlash of the 2 game suspension. Not after the world saw a different video.

m0nkey asked why he was being suspended indefinitely. The 2 game suspension was handed out before this 2nd video was released. After the 2nd video, Goodell suspended him indefinitely. Do you think the indefinite suspension happens without the release of the 2nd video? Also, why change the suspension for the same crime? Because the world saw the video.

That still makes no sense as to why he's suspended indefinitely if the league policy says 6 games.  Do people assume these domestic abuse charges involve pillow fights?

It's because Ray Rice lied. Or, at least, that is what Goodell is trying to make it look like in order to cover up the fact that they either didn't do their due diligence, or they blatantly ignored the 2nd video. Goodell doesn't like to be lied to. Just look at the Patriots videotape scandal and the Saints pay for performance scandal. Both cases, Goodell was lied to and he came down on them both hard. Sean Payton gets a full year suspension because he lied to Goodell about knowing about the money jar in the locker room, yet Ray Rice beats a woman senseless and he gets two games. Message: Don't lie to Goodell.

Problem #4 The media. Its ****ing pathetic that we have to rely on TMZ for the truth.

how is it that tmz can get the tape before the league does? and why wasn't the national media all over this before tmz released the tape?

that's what bothers me so much about all of this.

So when they had Rice admitting he hit her and the video showing him dragging her unconscious it was only a 2 game suspension. Now that they have "seen" the video he is suspended indefinitely. The NFL or Ravens have still not explained how the video changes anything other then "seeing it changes everything". Everybody knew he knocked her out before. I really hope Goodell resigns and the Ravens owner sells the team.

TMZPN on the crusade. Headline on SportCenter now is "Job in Jeopardy?"

I don't get how or why this is getting blown out of proportion. Dude knocks his chick out and gets suspended. Video surfaces of him doing what he was suspended for and everyone is acting like someone got murdered or it's a different crime or event that happened.

Now someone is on talking about the NFL as the poster child for domestic violence.

People losing their jobs or dramatic changes are silly.

So you think domestic violence is ok Brandon?

NFL players have had hundreds of arrests for domestic violence over the last decade.  They have hardly done anything about it.

To make things worse the NFL totally copped out when one of their stars in Rice got arrested for it.  They also covered it up.

My favorite thing is Floyd Mayweather defending Rice saying the NFL overreacted.  Of course Mayweather has beaten up his share of women.

I think in all sports any violent crime should mean the player gets banned from the sport for life.

I don't see anything Brandon said that implies he thinks domestic violence is okay.  The league hardly doing anything about it over the years is on them and they now have a policy in place that says 6 games yet they're trying to make an example out of Rice because of public backlash to the video.  I don't defend anything Rice did but if you're going to say you have a policy then you should enforce it across the board.  From a legal standpoint Rice took a plea deal which is quite common in the case of a first offense domestic abuse charge.  Whether the NFL saw the video or not what the **** did the general public think went down in the elevator?  Everyone and their mother saw the first video of her unconscious.  Domestic abuse is a problem but the court of public opinion in today's over saturated technology filled world shouldn't result in a sentence stiffer than what the policy states.

Rice didn't just hit her, he knocked her out.

Most domestic violence arrests are for a black eye.  He is lucky he didn't kill her.  And his total apathy toward it shows a ton.

The reason why people are calling for Goodell to lose his job is because the league hasn't done shit to put a stop to it until now when there was a huge backlash.

As far as the justice system is concerned assault is assault until a certain level of aggravation is reached.  A slap on the ass or a punch to the face are both considered assault despite how most everyone here would say one is worse than the other.  The fact that he knocked her out as far as the justice system is concerned is a moot point.  Again, the court of public opinion shouldn't be driving the leagues decision unless they're going to change their entire policy.

The epitome of AW.com logic.

How in the world do you take a post about a media blowjob fest and turn it into "You're ok with domestic violence?"

What the hell did the nfl think after the first video came out of him dragging her out of the elevator?

He gave her a love tap? The guy obviously knocked her out. He was literally dragging dead weight.

Even before Monday he deserved at least 6-8 games. Nope not the nfl though. The nfl said 2 games was ok for dragging out your knocked out wife from the elevator.

Now they're (nfl) saving their own ass after monday

this is an odd action by the nfl in that they 1. suspended him already, 2. created a new policy about it with a stiffer penalty than what they gave rice, and 3. then suddenly turned around and gave an even harsher penalty than their new policy. i would think the ray rice legal team might want to chime in about this.

a suspension was entirely warranted, and there is even a reasonable argument about giving a lifetime ban to athletes that commit these acts. the nfl has a problem with this kind of behavior and needs to get in front of it. but going from a small punishment to a huge punishment in one fell swoop, especially ignoring your own newly created policy about this specific crime, is odd.

Aaaaaaaand scene.

The Associated Press

BREAKING: AP Source: Law enforcement official sent copy of Ray Rice tape to NFL executive in April

Right after Goodell told teams that law enforcement wouldn't give it to them because it was evidence, lol.

This is why people are calling for him to be fired.
