It wasn't a strike. It didn't "knick the corner." I don't know what you could possibly be looking at.

It missed low and in (as shown in the Brooks data), then traveled further low and in into the catchers glove. Ball.

Then some nonsense about eddings' established strikezone? If his zone includes a pitch high and away while also including a pitch low and inside then he's a crappy ump with a poor interpretation of the strikezone. If he does that while also calling a pitch down the middle a ball then he's a blind crappy ump with a poor interpretation of the strikezone.

The ump missed 3 out of 5 calls in the at-bat. Might as well use a magic 8 ball.

What are you lookin at? This is directly from brooksbaseball site, which shows that it missed the zone

You can say it was closer than it looked(agreed) it was still a ball

So the top graph, is backwards right? I am not too familiar with these graphs, but the "strike two" pitch was low and inside, not low and outside, right?

The zone plot shows that the center of the baseball was 1.2 inches below the "zone". A baseball has a diameter of 3 inches. So 1.5 inches would be above the center. So the baseball nicked the bottom corner by .3 inches. It caught the plate. Add in Eddings large zone and it turns out everyone is just mad because out didn't look like a strike to them despite the fact that it was.

Eddings missed the first pitch!!!!! Worst call of all time!!! Oh, it favored the Angels, nm.

BTW, FoxTrax said it was a strike. Is Brooks more accurate?
