Girardi getting tossed

Recommended Posts

If he was so bad at framing pitches why is Girardi getting thrown out on a strike call on one of his hitters?

Because of the way Iannetta caught it.  It looked to everyone like a sure ball, even though it was clearly in the stike zone.

You're welcome.

The ESPN Highlight of last night's game was not biased at all in favor of the Yankees. First they pointed out that the pitch looked like it was low (without the pitch-trax, mind you), then they showed the BB that drove in the first run of the inning followed by, and I quote "The Angels win, 4 to 1" with no reference at all of the epicness of the Yankees bullpen meltdown, suggesting that the 4 to 1 final was a achieved by a normal hit to the outfield and not two more BB's.

Nope, no homerism there at all.

Without seeing the umps zone the whole night (which makes pitch trax irrelevant)...that was low. He probably 'missed' 10 or 20 other calls in the game, because he's so horrible.

That said, bases loaded..0 outs...it's the Yankees own fault. You have to get a minimum of a run there.

The ump was calling majority of the balls at the end of the zones strikes, whether it was high, low, inside, or outside.

And the pitch tracker was right that was a strike.

Because most umpires and managers acknowledge pitch framing and presenting pitches as a skill and an important part of getting called strikes.

It worked this time, because Diaz basically said "screw pitch framing" there, but 9 out of 10 umps would call that a ball.

Which is why Iannetta is still a problem.
