This might be a good guess.  They probably want to start the season with McDonald, so they will expose Romine to waivers.  When he gets taken, they have Gomez to take his place.  Who are they giving up?  Hester is a good guess, but it could also be Jimenez or Field.

No way they give up Jimenez for this guy. 

 

Jimenez probably gets a good amount of playing time this year since Freese has been injury prone in the past and will likely need quite a few days at DH.
