c'mon tdawg, you're way funnier than this played out joke.

maybe go with something like, "wish we had an owner committed to winning like the marlins do." and then follow that up with, " 2 WS trophies. SCOREBOARD!"

I want to go back in time and trade Santana, Kendrick, Wood and Mathis to the Marlins as was rumored.

In Santiago's last 5 starts he has put together a 1.48 ERA, an 8.31 K/9 rate (with a 4.45 BB/9 rate), and a .198 Batting Average Against. The real kicker is his super elite 9.8% Line Drive rate over that period. He was already the leader in all of baseball for lowest LD%, as indicated in the article above, but 9.8% is otherworldly good. He has really been on point lately so kudos to him.

Whether he is traded or not it is really nice to see him pitching to his strengths.

Keep him Santiago Shoemaker and Skaggs pitching this well even if we don't make the playoffs this year. Next year that's a good start to a rotation

Agreed. I will speak about 2017 in my final Trade Candidate Final Discussion article coming out in the next couple of days speaking to why I now think 2017 is plausible based on those three heading our rotation.

The Phils are asking for an org's Top 5 prospect for free agent-to-be Jeremy Hellickson.

I don't see why we couldn't have a similar asking price for Santiago. If a team is actually willing to pay that, it's worth listening, but I'm also way down holding onto him and seeing what happens next year.

Out of interest, which site do you use to get things like linedrive rates through a particular stretch of games? I know you can do it manually with Baseball-Reference, but that seems like more effort (i.e. minimal effort) than I would like to make.

I use FanGraphs a lot and Baseball-Reference too.

When you pull up a specific player you can click on the tab 'Game Log' and then you can select a date range of starts or dates and it will pull up the data for you. Then you can click on the 'Advanced' tab or 'Batted Ball' tabs for instance to pull up K%-BB% rates or LD% rates for the selected range.

That Fangraphs tool is cool. I've started using them more and more and I read their articles a lot but still struggle with the functionality of their site a bit. Thanks for the tip!
