So what were the posting rules now?  One week for bids, then 1 month negotiating period with any team that has equal high bids, in this case, the max bid of $20 million?

 

I don't think they is any time limit for bids.  I think it's just if you're willing to pay the 20M, you can negotiate for 30 days from the date of his official posting.

I think there has to some kind of a bid timeframe.  For Tanaka, he will get max bids.  But for other players posted they may not.  I just don't know if that period is a few days or a week, or a month.

I think some of you are underestimating how much he is going to cost.  The new posting system means that more teams can be in the mix.  I can see him getting Greinke type money.  I can't wait for the boards reaction if the Angels have to pay him 150 million.

This is a perfect fit for the Angels! Just imagine a rotation of Weaver, Wilson, Tanaka, Richards, and Skaggs with Santiago in the pen, that rotation has the potential to be the best in the game. Another thing, there's no way the Angels are staying under the luxury tax threshold if they signed Tanaka, might as well go over.
