Angels end up with: Trumbo, Skaggs, Cahill, and Gregorius

To be fair, this proposal makes zero sense for Chicago. They'd essentially be trading Santiago for Adam Eaton. More than likely they'd be getting something else from the Angels.

Might exactly be the reason for this 3-way deal with them removing Eaton from the equation. We've heard it's been Choo or Trumbo for the Dbacks but with this they could get both of them. Why have one or the other when you can have both

This would be an absolute coup for the Angels.

The sabermetric stats don't love Santiago (and he allowed a ton of baserunners last year), though I suppose Dipoto sees something in him that he likes.

 

Still, Skaggs + Santiago would be a good haul for just Trumbo. Can't complain.
