Just thought this might be worth a separate thread. They lose tonight, and their season is over.

 

Down 3-2 to the Rays in the 5th inning, with their #3-6 hitters (A-Rod, Cano, Soriano, and yes, Vernon Wells) a combined 1-for-8 so far.

Phil Hughes only lasted two innings, allowing 3 earned runs. Girardi is in desperation mode at this point.

I get that no one here is a yankees fan but they're pathetic for being down 5 runs? Every team has lost a game by 5+runs multiple times. And why not send out one of your legendary icons who helped win the team 5 championships over 19 years in his last home game?

I certainly hope they rule on A-Rod's appeal before next year. I really don't want to see him in a major-league uniform ever again.

Are you kidding? He'll probably find his way back here as a cheap, right-handed power threat off the bench. Sign a minor-league contract, have a great Spring, and make the roster.
