One of my favorites. I also like another Dr. Seuss book, If I Ran the Zoo. I had a hardback copy of it when I was a kid. It isn't among the more popular Seuss books but it remains one of mine. Also liked The Little Engine that Could.

I was disappointed in 3 after 2, which was the best of the series.

I read a lot as a kid. I remember the Choose Your Own Adventures as being cool. But that may be a little older. While I read the Dr. Seuss stuff, I don't recall ever being a real fan of those. I was more of a Shel Silverstein "A Light In The Attic" fan.

 

I also recall reading a book, which the name escapes me (I've tried to find it by description to no avail) about a kid growing up in Arkansas (I pronounced it Are Kansas at the time) with a mentally challenged sibling and it ended with a Fairy Ring. It may not have been an actual "kids" book, though.

I used to love this book growing up. Robert Munsch is great all around. The Paper Bag Princess and Stephanie's Ponytail are great also.

Shel Silverstein has a few great books. Another one I love reading to my daughter is "The Giving Tree":

 

As a kid, I loved to read "James and the Giant Peach".
