He played for Toronto last year. He needs at least a few years coaching in the minors or coaching in the majors before he's consider for a ML managing job.

Not saying he is qualified or not, I just have a gut feeling that Dipoto may name him manager if given the opportunity.  Mike Matheny served only as a special assistant to the GM before becoming manager in St. Louis.   I don't believe Ventura had managed or coached prior to taking on the ChiSox.

The Phillies knew that MANY teams would be after Ryno, and they knew it a while ago. That is why they brought him over from the Cubs org when he wasn't promoted after Lou P left the Cubs.

Too bad, because he is going to be an awesome, no-nonsense, manager... for a long time in the major leagues.
