Time to rebuild. The "dynasty" is over.  Having nobody in the minor leagues is equally as bad a plan as overprotecting every prospect.

Nah I think Aybar will stay because he doesn't have a ready replacement, unless the Angels are going full-on rebuild (which is unlikely). The problem with Callaspo is that he no longer has a ready replacement either now that Jimenez is likely done for the year.

 

This has just been a poorly assembled pitching staff. The absolutely horrid defense hasn't helped either.

It' been pretty meh overall but they have still been able to score runs. The offense has been a disappointment but it's been good enough to keep the team in contention (with a not horrible pitching staff).

Other than Downs, I don't think they have any decent trade chips. Any evaluation should consider salary, ability to replace, etc.   Maybe Trumbo.  Vargas would be if he wasn't on the DL.

After recent performances (including today) by Downs, don't think there will be much of market for Downs or Blanton at deadline time.........DFA may be the only option to move them and that doesn't make a lot of sense at this point...........

This team isn't a rebuild ... just needs to enhance the pitching and Callaspo Wouldn't hurt to get some prospects for the farm without trading core players.
