If they've figured out something with Hanson.  If Richards pans out to be a solid starter.  They could be a good team even if Hamilton and Pujols continue playing how they've been playing this year.  This team has a lot of talent.  They should be around .500... or better... even with the questionable decisions and individual struggles.

This is not a terrible team or organization.

I guess if fans are fine with being a 3rd place team every year.....

Good idea.  Tank and get LeBron James.

Or, realize this is MLB, and you can sometimes get the guy that is second on your draft board in the middle of the first round.... AND that is little guarantee the guy will be a good major leaguer.

My dream scenario is the Angels get something for Downs, shut Albert down for the season, and tank for a draft pick.  They can still compete in 2014 if they don't screw up another offseason.

Downs won't command much. Best case scenario is they get some RP prospect who could perhaps become a good middle reliever option for this team down the road. I'll gladly take that though

Trumbo would be their best trade chip. Iannetta won't return much as well but I could see a team like the Yankees having some interest(their catcher situation has been atrocious). Outside of that, don't see who else this team will really trade. They aren't doing a full rebuild, not when Pujols is only in year 2 of his deal and Hamilton is in year 1

Getting a better draft slot is a better proposition than the .000001% chance we have of catching Oakland.

The Orioles stole Chris Davis and Hunter for Uehara.  I'd rather gamble on a prospect or two than watch Downs walk.

Uehara was a closer when traded and far more superior to Downs. He's nothing more than a LH specialist, which won't net us anything close to what the O's received.

The Angels have a tv deal that pays them around $150 million per year... and they have, what, a 25% stake?  Apparently, the sports tv bubble might burst, too.... which would mean some teams will miss out.

where'd you hear the sports tv bubble might burst?
