Ugh. Well, with the pitching and hitting somewhat righted (there's still room for improvement), perhaps the team can focus on execution in the field. This is the one area I thought the team would be solid. In my modest opinion this needs to be the current priority.

The defense hasn't been as good because Bourjos has been on the DL twice and has missed about 45 games because of injuries. Pujols has only been able to play 33 games at 1B. Hamilton has already made as many errors as he made all of last season. Also, Aybar and especially Callaspo's defense hasn't been as good as usual.

Trading Bourjos' glove for Schuck's is like trading Miguel Cabrera's bat for a pitcher's. The infielders all look lazy sometimes and Trumbo can't bail them out.

 

When I watch Hamilton with the sheer brilliance mixed with equal parts utter buffoonery it reminds me of my brother and I can't help but think he needs a Ritalin prescription.

He and Aybar have struggled in that area in 2013.     That plus Bourjos missing a lot of time must play a part in it.

Bingo, bango, boingo. Maybe it's because we're used to Trout in left, or Shuck is just THAT bad at getting that crucial first step, but he's been stinking it up. If the ball goes to left, it feels, to me, like a 50/50 shot that it's gonna drop in for a hit. It also feels like some teams know about it, and are swinging for left.

Texas has given up more unearned runs than we have.

Texas is lucky to be 53-37.    Their run differential is just +34 (5th in the AL).

Offense is on pace for just over 720 runs, the defense has the 6th most errors, and they are currently down to 2 quality starters with Ogando having been DL'd for the past 5 weeks.    The 4th and 5th starters haven't been very good.
