  1. Dipoto will be shown the door. New GM will be sought from inside the organization. Scioscia will remain manager and have broader say in player acquisition and development.
  2. The title of this thread says it all. Thanks for informing me what I should do to be a true fan. Pathetic.
  3. Not sure I understand your point. Washington is a city within the District of Columbia; the Bronx and Queens are boroughs within New York City; Anaheim has absolutely nothing to do with Los Angeles.
  4. Ugh. Well, with the pitching and hitting somewhat righted (there's still room for improvement), perhaps the team can focus on execution in the field. This is the one area I thought the team would be solid. In my modest opinion this needs to be the current priority.
  5. As I suggested in a previous thread, start by sitting him during the Seattle series. That'll give him a full week of rest through the All Star break until the team returns to play Oakland.
  6. Indeed the team is playing exceptional ball over the past few weeks. If they can get the defense squared up, they'll be in prime shape for a second half run. Would love to see them sweep the Cubs and perhaps give Albert the weekend off when they play the Mariners. A full week of rest to relieve that plannar ailment would be ideal.
  7. The ignorance behind some of the comments here is astonishing. ***smacks forehead in bewilderment***
  8. That was one of the best swings I've seen from him all year. He looked really locked in and his swing was effortlessly smooth. Hopeful that his pitch recognition is back on track. Gotta hand it to him for staying positive and working through what must feel like a demoralizing 10 to 12 months of poor performance.
  9. The team is actually looking solid in several areas lately. Still not up to the mark they perhaps should be, but when they start winning tight games, that's a sign that things are turning around. For example, Aybar just failed to get the bunt down, went 0-2, but drew a walk then pressured the defense which directly resulted a go ahead run. It's those subtle chains of events that have been missing all year. I with Chuck. Pumped about the possibility of a strong second half.
  10. First off, the Yankee players are not the enemy. They are competitors. Second, honoring the career of a worthy competitor, and the game's best closer, is a sign of respect.
  11. Key moment of the game right there. That's what the team has been missing all year. Those timely hits with RISP. Aybar had a fantastic 12-pitch at bat earlier to work a hit. Even with all the struggles this year there are great little moments to savor!
  12. I watch because I'm a fan. Regardless of the Angels' current struggles, it's still a great game and always a welcome distraction.
  13. Like a cheap bottle of wine. Bold and flavorful but a little rough on the finish.
  14. Really not surprised by this. Anglesjunky rightly noted that it's a smartly run organization. Beane seems to be mindful of not only finding players of high value, but also players that gel together. It also doesn't hurt that they play fundamentally sound baseball.
  15. I love keeping score at the game and these are really nice sheets. I would like to request Bay Area ballparks for Giants and A's games. Thanks!
  16. Bingo! Everyone should read this article. Thank you, Ellen!
  17. There was no worse season than 1980. Period. Imagine the Yankees from the 2012 ALCS. Now stretch that out over 162 games. That was the 1980 Angels. You kids these days have it lucky.
  18. MLB needs to do what ever it can to clean up the game. But this will get messy. As others mentioned, without a positive test I don't see how MLB can suspend these players. I imagine it comes down to how the agreement with the players association is worded. I also think they should drop the 50 game suspension for the first offense. Make in 100, then 150, then gone. In all cases, immediate forfeiture of any and all awards accumulated during the season in which the cheating occurred.
  19. Indeed, there needs to be a shift. But I don't believe it needs to be overly drastic. My dare to: Pujols to the DL (15 day minimum, perhaps 4 weeks and reevaluate). Trumbo to 1st. Call up Calhoun. Hamilton to the 3 hole. Yeah, crazy, but it's time for crazy. Callaspo back to the 15-day. He's clearly not 100%. Bring up Jimenez. Keep the pitching staff as is unless there is a quality arm to be had at the deadline. And for crying out load, will someone on the roster (Manager and coaches not included) please stand up a lead within the club house! Leave the chairs alone. They're the only thing performing as expected.
  20. Dude, really? You find this reply appropriate? I thought personal attacks were in violation of the terms of conduct. Or are mods exempt?
  21. Have to share this comment to the article by delusional Rangers fan, Tony_Ranger: My line-up 1) Elvis Andrus SS 2) Ian Kinsler 2b 3) Lance Berkamn DH 4) Adrian Beltre 3b 5) Mike Trout CF 6) Nelson Cruz RF 7) Chris Davis 1B 8) Davis Murphy LF 9) Soto C Pitchers , Darvish, Holland, Harrison, Closer Joe Nathan
  22. Not that is means much, but it's nice to see him recognized: 1. Miguel Cabrera, Tigers: 1,500,165 2. Robinson Cano, Yankees: 1,235,230 3. Mike Trout, Angels: 1,190,676 Full article at MLB: http://goo.gl/J6EOw
  23. Actually, I ride a miniature pygmy horse. I agree with Oracle that there are reflections of the 1980 season. I attended nearly every game that season and I've seen this team at it's worst and best over the years. But I refuse to callously dismiss the efforts of those I support. If not kicking the team to the dirt makes me some effervescent-superfan-tard, so be it. That said, my apologies to BaseballMom for my disrespectful cheap shot.
  24. In other words, in early 1980 they got swept 4 games in Oakland by an improved A's team that posted a record of 83-79 in for the season. But I agree, it's looking like 1980 all over again.
