The San Francisco Giants interviewed coach Alyssa Nakken for the vacant manager job. She is believed to be the first female to be interviewed for a manager position in MLB.

She was a standout softball player for CalState Sacramento. She is also well educated, smart, and well-spoken. Much if the strategy and fundamentals are the same. The issue should not be her gender, but rather her relative youth as she is only 33. A lot of players well be older and have more life experience. Has she developed the requisite people skills yet, those are honed and developed by life experience. This  however, adds interest to the off-season. Other than her youth, why not? Like all young, aspiring managers, she would probably gain experience managing in the minors, or remain a coach to be mentored by an experienced, older, and talented manager. If they give her the job, I will wish her well.

This argument kinda reminds me when the Angels hired a stat nerd , fired a winner, and started a decade of sucking ass. New school isn’t always better. A woman hire is a guarantee that the team is going to be managed by computer nerds with no emphasis on leadership or human elements.

In the last twenty five years the only managers the Angels have fired were Ausmus and Maddon. Collins stepped down, Scioscia retired and Nevin wasn't tendered a new contract.

Mike doesn’t retire if Arte doesn’t hire Dipshit and the nerd herd to run things. Mike has some huge failures but he was one of the games best for many years. I’m not totally opposed to statistics but there are always numbers within the numbers. Nerds tend to overlook the common sense just as all these pro woman managers morons are presently doing. I can assure every MLB team that the solution to their problems isn’t a woman manager. The fact that they’re entertaining this horse shit is the problem. It’s sad that Baseball has become almost irrelevant in America yet continues to focus on woke nonsense.

Scioscia retired because he was done with his career. He has made that clear that he did his time and wouldn't go back. So your entire narrative is another meaningless rant.

But his narrative allows him to be edgy. Also Scioscia didn’t simply retire because he was done.  He wanted a 20th season and wasn’t granted one.

You’re in the wrong place if you want support for nerd bashing.  Might as go to a forum for women with mental health issues and discuss Trevor Bauer’s innocence.

I could see her being given a shot to manage in the minors. It seems a bit much for her first managerial experience to be in MLB, especially given her youth.

If you really pay attention to nfl games, they are horrible at officiating despite having the easiest job.

not really seeing that as a relevant comparison to being a major league baseball manager.

It’s another example of woman entering a man’s sport with little to no qualifications in that sport. The MLB is simply following the woke steps of other leagues. It won’t stop at hiring females either.  The alphabet mob is right around the corner.

Ok, but she is a coach in the majors, has been for 3 seasons, and she worked her way up in the game. But your misogyny can’t wrap your head around this being a possibility.  It is a results based game.  If she wasn’t doing the job, she wouldn’t be in the majors.  It’s an incredibly simple concept, one that even you should be able to understand.

Dude she was a an intern they hired in the information department Kapler put her in charge of clubhouse kumbayas and  yoga operations. She was a base coach for about 6 innings and already has a display in Cooperstown.

This ain’t the typical route to a managerial role and she ain’t Joe Torre.
