Buck Showalter interested in Angels managerial job

If Perry hires him and builds around that then it’s fine. It makes no sense to have a GM and the owner not allow them to build a team. So if it is an Arte hire then not much good will come of it.

Buck would be fine. But, really, at this point - almost anything is an improvement.  An earlier post said that since it's the GM's final year of his contract -- 'the Angel job is seen an unattractive'. within the industry.   It could also be the overall dysfunction of. the ANGELS organization these days.   Halos could do worse than Showalter - hope they don't wait to find out.,

Ideally it would be nice if all the coaching staff carried the same philosophies. If they don’t, that could be a problem. It will be interesting to see how many changes are made at the coaching level too.

In this hypothetical scenario, we can’t really say whether it’s an Arte hire until/unless we get further info regarding the hiring.

It’s a bad hiring process if it’s Arte picking the manager while ignoring/overriding his GMs input.

That doesn’t mean it will turn out to be a bad hire, as a bad process could lead to a good result. But it wouldn’t be a good process leading to a good result.

I agree with that. At the same time we will never know the entire truth because as you’ve mentioned Perry and Showalter worked together in Texas so it’s just as easy to assume it was a mutually agreed upon hire.

Probably not. Maybe we find out a few years later.

We didn’t know that Buck was Eppler’s recommendation to Arte over Maddon until the last year or so.
