If we were making odds, what would be a reasonable assessment?  I'd go:

Dodgers: 3-2

Giants: 2-1

Padres: 4-1

Mariners: 9-2

Yankees: 6-1

Rest Of The Field: 7-1

Angels: 8-1

I included the Yankees, even though everyone is picking him to stay on the West Coast, because they're capable of throwing money at him, and they're a major market with a legendary franchise, that puts a premium on winning.

I guess that ups my % of him staying in Anaheim from 0% to 12.5%.

I talked to a long time Giants fan when I was in San Fransisco and he said there was zero chance Ohtani would pick the Giants if his emphasis is on winning. Their team is a mess right now with little chance of turning it around any time soon.

Ohtani to sign with the Giants, confirmed.

The Japanese network covering every Angel game has pulled the plug and won't show any more games. Obviously they could care less about any team, only interested in Ohtani's exploits.

I expect a large reduction in Angel  attendence, merchandising and visibility next season. And very few if any Japanese tourists who were solely focussed on Ohtani. How many Ohtani fans amongst that group do you think will still follow the team?

Conversely, all this will migrate to his new team. And likely increase exponentially if Ohtani is on a great pace on a playoff type team. This has to be a factor in upcoming offers and negotiations.

Call me old school, but I find it kind of insulting seeing fans who only care about the player and not the team. Especially witnessing it in person at a game. Totally understandable with the Ohtani phenomenon but also somewhat disrespectful to team fans.

You don't follow Ohtani's old team. Isn't that kind of disrespectful?

Sounds familiar!
