So then why is he afraid of the public’s opinion about his tenure as owner. Also he didn’t inherit his dads business.

This is very dumb. The reality of Arte is bad enough that we don’t need to play make believe.

the best thing that has happened in the angels organization the last 20 years under moreno control is his real estate project at angels stadium never hit the ground running...what a nightmare that would have been for the city of anaheim and the fans that have supported this team for decades !!

I remember getting a really great deal on a bunch of Vladdy jerseys at the team store after the 2009 season. They were 80% off. I didn't care he wasn't with the team anymore. I loved Vladdy! I bought 5 of them. lol

Trout will be on the team next year.  Count on it.  All this speculation is pointless.  There's gonna be enough fallout to last several years when Ohtani walks for nothing.  The idea that the Angels will compound that by even giving the slightest indication that their only other marketable player is going away, especially with the Angels likely having to eat a large chunk of his contract to do it, is ridiculous.

They may not even have to reduce the price of any remaining Ohtani merch.  There will probably be enough demand to sell what they need to before he makes his departure official.

OPS+ with the Angels is now down to 81 and he's at a robust 0.0 bWAR.

As I've said elsewhere, if they want to bring him back on a 1-year deal for something like $3M, yeah, sure, I'm fine with that.  Won't impact anything.  But a multi-year deal or a 1-year for more than $3M seems like a waste.
