Oddly enough,  more than half the AL is under .500 tonight and the Angels are not one of those teams.

It's never been a surprise thar Adell can crush a pirch when he hits a high strike squarely. Tonight it was just the drama of the situation. But he did look more confident and patient in his other at bats. It would be nice to have a decent sample size though to measure his progress. Pitchers will be trying to get him to chase and mix speeds and locations on him. If he can adjust this time around it could impact a number of roster decisions. 

Soriano, Bachman and Joyce are all encouraging in their early career stages. But still just a tiny sample size. If Estevez remains hot, Devenski and Moore bridge to the later innings as they were/are doing, then getting six good innings from the starters can keep the team close most games. 

Detmers corrected some of his recent mistakes and was better with his location and change of speeds. 

Nice sweep, but remember that is against a bad team. Can't expect the same gifts from better teams. However, it was absolutely necessary to get momentum rolling.

So the question begs, why didn't Rendon play last night?

I legit understand the guy needs his rest and Nevin is easing him back into the lineup, but the guy has managed to play 6 of 18 innings since his "return".

I wouldn't call that maximizing the return on a investment.

Everyone gets to play these bad teams. Beating them and sweeping them is important.

This is pretty high on my who gives a shit list. He’s had injuries, groin injuries are a tough heal.  Taking it slow is a good idea.

Angels had already won the first two games of the series and Nevin bet on having a fair enough chance to get the third game sans Rendon.

I don't necessarily agree to the gamble but it happened to pay off.

Sweeping teams is always fun.

Detmers almost got through 6 innings.   Would have shut them out, except for a clear strike 3 not called with 2 outs in the 2nd inning.

Devenski now has a sub 0.50 WHIP and Zero BBs in 21 innings.

Soriano looks good in his first 3 appearances, with good movement on his pitches.

Estevez ties Percy’s franchise record with saves in his first 16 save opps to start the season.

Rengifo is heating up at the plate.

Adell destroyed the second pitch he saw.   Key going forward is keeping the Ks down enough.
