Also, if reports are true about Bauer bring out of shape and throwing in the mid or upper 80's, it becomes more of a gamble. Not only would he need to begin strength training again and get his velo back, he'd also need to start conditioning his elbow and shoulder to stand up to 100 pitches. Typically this is done incrementally in Spring Training, but if he's out of shape, he'd be starting even lower, at like 10-20 pitches. And even if he doesn't sustain any injuries and starting training immediately, you're still looking at minimum 6 weeks to build up strength... He may not be ready for the beginning of the season.

It’s possible, though he could apologize generically and not say anything to hurt his lawsuit.

Anything more than an empty Taco Bell bag would be an overpay. He hasn't pitched in a year and a half, and the crowd is going to be on him no matter where he pitches on the road.

Maybe the answer to this is already somewhere in this thread, but I wonder if Bauer will at some point sue the accuser for damages.

His financial damage is substantial.

If he won she would almost certainly be forced to file Chapter 7 BK, and even then she could still be encumbered by liens against property assets.

But Bauer might also be legally advised to just move on in order to get this behind him so he can just get back to trying to earn what he can pitching.
