I know they changed blocking the plate rules but if the catcher moves over to get the ball like that then is Marsh ok to just run him over like the old days?

I hope so because how else is the runner supposed to get to the plate?

From what I recall in the end it's going to be up to umpire discretion, so we all know we'd probably get screwed by an umpire review if he mowed him over.

Yet Nevin is credited with the win. Doesn't make sense. Unless it's acknowledged that he's calling the shots indirectly. .

Just like Steve Kerr got all the dubs when Luke Walton was physically putting the plan in action.

Nevin's maneuver to tell Wantz not to hit anybody left Wantz to tell himself that's a green light to retaliate for the Trout incident. Nevin now owns that clubhouse whether he has to hide in his office or in a suite.

Larussa is seventy seven. .

The Yankees had a mandatory retirement age for managers at 70. Or at least used it as an excuse to can Casey Strngel after he lost game seven of the 1960 World Series. Despite a decade of championships. But he resurfaced two years later with Mets. And is remembered by many for his sarcastic  quips about his own historically inept team.

On the other hand you have Connie Mack, John McGraw, Sparky Anderson, Earl Weaver who won championships and managed for decades. And many others who kept on managing for long stretches with multiple teams. But the game has changed so much since then. Now managers have to be computer literate, factor in advanced stats, deal with video and dozens of other things.

You can't generalize completely, because each case is different. But maybe the Yankees had the right idea. A younger Ralph Houk won four pennants in a row after Casey. However the age seventy of sixty years ago probably is equivalent to seventy five or more today considering increased longevity and health options. So maybe Tony will still be putting on the uniform for a while.

Tony is an actual attorney-at-law. He can figger out complicated stuff.

That was a great win.

Lose the lead and immediately get it back.

Thor dominated for 5 innings, including a rare easy 1st inning, and giving them 7 much needed innings.

Marsh is showing signs of emerging from month long slide, and saving a run.

Wade and Rengifo flashing the leather in the 9th

9-9 after the 14 game losing streak
