Elon Musk banks almost $12B of Tesla money in seven days

Tesla shares rally after electric vehicle company clears $24B in fourth quarter revenue

The most recent filings show Musk holds 423,622,000 shares in Tesla worth $53.87 billion as of close of trading on Jan.19. The total value of those holdings jumped to $67.89 billion based on Thursday’s closing price.

The weekly total doesn’t account for Musk’s other assets and liabilities as CEO of SpaceX and Twitter, founder of The Boring Company, and co-founder of Neuralink and OpenAI. Forbes lists Musk’s overall worth at $168.7 billion.

White House dangles $7.5B Tesla subsidy to Elon Musk

Like business that have private clubs, they do better when they can pick and choose their members based on a exclusive criteria. Billionaires will be billionaires but when they start playing in the inclusiveness game like socialists they lose money.  Who would have thought?

Twitter was an echo chamber for the left and that’s now gone so it makes sense that its value has plummeted. Maybe it makes a bit of a comeback but we’ll have to wait and see. Personally, I think Twitter will go the way of My Space and the world will be better for it

I'm not sure about you guys, but I measure a businessperson's success at business by their ability to turn a profit. So either Elon is a terrible businessman, or ...

He’s been pretty successful at turning profits and building up his brand. Twitter has changed and many leftist users and advertisers dumped it. I’m certain he knew that would happen. He has rebranded it and will need more people to sign up for it that previously weren’t using it. Even the conservatives that left the platform before he acquired it likely won’t be back so I have my doubts it will return to what it was in terms of users. Depending on how he runs it, it could still be profitable.

So he spent $50B on a product that he knew would lose money. Doesn't sound like a smart businessman to me.

Honestly, I have no idea why he bought it. He doesn’t need the money it could bring and I think he did it because he could. Like I said, maybe the way he rebrands it will be profitable in the future

Tax write off.  He just paid tens of billions in taxes to the feds from profits.  Now he gets it all back, with business losses.  Twitter is the white whale that rich people look for to invest a little, and to keep the tax man at bay and keep their profits from their profitable ventures.

Holy shit. How has this guy not learned to shut the fuck up until he actually knows what he’s talking about when taking highly public shots at people? He’s gonna have to adjust his approach here. @cals, put your name in the hat for consideration as this man’s counsel:
