Trout now taking some swings on the field

Injuries are always a risk. Obviously training and conditioning can be somewhat preventative, but it's tough when your franchise player starts becoming injury prone.

Mickey Mantle (who Trout most resembles) missed big chunks of his career  due to multiple injuries, compounded by counterproductive lifestyle habits. Arguably he never showed his full potential ever because of a serious knee injury in his rookie year.  But his team was powerful enough in the early part of his career to still compensate for his absence.

Regardless of circumstances I wonder how Arte feels when he sees how much money he's paying to Pujols, Trout, Upton and Rendon this year and the tiny bang for the buck he's gotten on the field.

Trout yes, home grown

But the big money to other teams’ FA sluggers hopefully stops now.

I'm surprised by your ignorance regarding calf injuries based on your self identified occupation.

1.  I’m not an orthopedist or a physical therapist so I don’t treat many people with calf injuries.
2.  Rarely are the Angels forthcoming about the true severity of any injury.
3.  The calf injuries on my patients occur while doing things like walking to the fridge or tripping over their oxygen tubing so a bit of a different animal and generally less severe.
4.   The Angels should have the top orthopedic doctors and therapists working with the team that should be experts in treating these injuries and therefore should be able to put together an accurate timeline for treatment and return.
