Ok. I don't think it matters, because everyone who means something to the Ducks 2-3 seasons from now, will be protected. So, it's really just protecting trade assets. And, since Bob doesn't do that great there, nothing to get worked up about.

I think on D it's a problem.  You can only protect 3.  Fowler really showed last game that he needs to be protected.  He went out of the game, and with Drysdale being a scratch, the D went to total shit.  Fleury + Drysdale is the #1 line, so he needs to be protected.

That just leaves protecting an asset, or future.  And Mahura just seems like he's going to be one of those Ducks are stupid for giving Shea Theodore to the Knights kind of player.

I don't know. I don't see Mahura as being anything in the range of Theadore.

You're going to lose someone. Besides Fowler and Lindholm, I don't mind who they take defensively. I just don't see a lot of the players on this team not being replaceable.

I think the player we'll get in this draft will be more important to the team than the player we lose to Seattle. So I'm going to waste my nerves on the last few games of the season. Crazy, but we have a chance at getting the best lottery odds and a guaranteed top 3 pick. Go Buffalo.

Manson, to me, lost his value when he signed his last contract. Before that, he had value because of what the Ducks were paying (and what they got for his draft slot) verses what he was giving them.

Since the contract, he's not a bargain anymore. Plus, he started seeing himself differently. He stopped playing an energy game and tried to play a skills game. But he doesn't have the skills.

He just is nothing special now. He definitely isn't a top 4 Dman on a quality NHL team.

It's not mathematically certain yet, but it looks like we're #2 in the lottery. A big deal since Seattle was given #3. I think it's a 5 point spread between 2 and 4. Not to mention the position you get if you don't win the lottery. 3-4 should still allow for a prospect of the Zegras/ Drysdale level; 5-6 I don't know.

So much uncertainty with this years draft though.  Players just aren't playing enough to get a good look at.  Especially with a lot of junior leagues not playing.  It's really going to take a lot of good scouting this year, and it wouldn't surprise me if the best players are taken in higher rounds.

Yep, that's why I made the joke earlier about someone picking up a HOF'er in the second round. I don't think it would surprise anyone if that happened.

Luckily, if there is one thing the Ducks have been good at lately, It's drafting.

I was looking on the web for Ducks first round picks.  Oye vey we had some lean years.  I guess when you hit a grand slam with the first batter you draft, it might be that way.  2008 is when BM became GM.

The 1st round is so very dependent on place. You look at those picks up through Lupul and you have to say major bust. Maybe that's why they quit signing Russians. 2006-09 was another low point. The pick placement wasn't as good. But, they should have found some decent NHL'ers.

They've done well since 2010 considering how far back most of the picks have been. I look forward to seeing what they get with the best pick since Ryan - even if it is a down draft year.

Well, I just spent way too much time looking at that list and thinking. How depressing.

Fuck you Manson.  Just stand there and watch the play in the crease instead of doing something useful like playing the trailer.

You should look at the video of the first goal Minn scored Friday night. Rakell literally went around in a circle twice (doing nothing but, with no one near him), then got beat to the net by the goal scorer. I couldn't believe it. I don't know what happened to him. But, he's not here mentally anymore.

Rakell has some use still.  Manson, none.  Same with Lindholm.  Fuck em.

Good thing with Rakell, is that he'll probably have huge trade value at the deadline if he doesn't get his act together.  Because the young kids have jumped him on the future of the team and depth chart.  If he doesn't be careful, he could see himself on the third or even fourth line.

I think he has to be traded. He just doesn't play like he wants to be here anymore. He has more talent than he's shown the last 2-3 years.

The offseason should be interesting. If it's not, FU Bob.

Came across this video.

Wonder what it would take to get Caufield from the Canadians?  Would veterans be of interest for them?

You have to be happy with Comtois. He looks like a 25-30 goal guy going forward

At least your team has a chance to be on hand for the awarding of the President’s Trophy
