Gut shot, straight center mass shooting. This is what they are trained to hit and the guy went down but as you saw he was able to recover. That is the scary part if they don't drop the weapon and  have a nothing to lose mindset. The officers were well trained and only hit him once and didn't continue the barage since he dropped the weapon.
