I would agree that there's a lot of deception going on, but it's from various sources, right and left. Both sides are guilty of lying with statistics and facts.

This started with Reagan, when the press and the Democrats stuck him with the lie that he wanted to get rid of social programs, when in fact he wanted to slow the rate of increase in spending. The average citizen could not think clearly enough to understand the difference.

It's a long history. Orwell would have been proud. The media and the power brokers create the narrative and run with it, and the 24-hour news channels and newspapers drum it into the minds of the dumbed-down citizens. Slogans, name-calling, and shouting rule the discussion. At least we have the internet now to do the proper research, but most people are more interested in the Kardashians than the fundamentals that affect their lives.
