Guys like these usually make good coaches, for those exact reasons.

Some guys are natural, some scrappers. The scrappers have to work their ass off to just keep up. Extra workouts, time doing drills, etc. The natural is just gifted.

Meanwhile, the scrapers had to put in FAR more time working on things. They knew they couldnt mess around at the bars like the better guys, because they were at the park at 6am to workout early.

Point being, after the playing days ended, the scrappy guy, whether he made it or not, probably will always be a better teacher than the natural. Because the natural doesn't "get" what the struggling new guy isnt understanding.
