Not sure if they're related, but there was one in Tustin. I used to go to that one once in a while.

How does it compare to the best places in Austin? I won't say anything negative about them so I'll just say that they are better than Left Coast in Irvine.

i'm pretty sure it's not nearly as good as a McRib.

Bbq is good. But pakes in comparison to what you can find in Austin. 

 

Beer on the other hand is excellent. Amalgamator is a very good ipa.

That's Beachwood, not Beach Pit. They do have good BBQ and great beer. I'd highly recommend it.

It's very likely better than Franklin and La Barbecue.

Doug Dicinces’ son owns it. It’s a decent little joint with a good brisket.

 The now deceased Old Town Tustin location was the sister restaurant to the one off 17th in Costa Mesa @eaterfan

Beachwood in Seal Beach (also in LB)?   It's different from anything you'll find in Texas, but it's pretty good.

It has been a while since the Old Town Tustin place closed.    The Black Marlin has been there for at least the past 3-4 years.  

I think there was also one in the Orange Circle, that also shut down quite a while back.

The Peach Pit was a pretty rad hangout back in the 90's. Nat was the owner at the time, not sure if he's still there. I had a couple buddies, Brandon and Steve that worked there everyday after high school, what jokers they were. A few hot chicks would usually stop by before hitting up the mall or going to the beach. One of them I had a crush on was Kelly, she was super hot back then, but seemed stuck-up. Plus, for some reason she liked this loser named Dylan, who already had a girlfriend!
