The most unsurprising news you will read this year

Here's the silver lining. This offers a relatively cheap way to keep Garrett in a low risk way that also keeps Trout's best friend in the organization. For Garrett financially speaking, this is the worst possible time to get this injury (again) because he should be building for his big pay day. Now the Angels can offer him a rather low one year deal to see how the recovery goes. Maybe they offer him 2/$10-15MM to get the surgery and then see how he rehabs.

Think of Garrett's alternative: he gets TJS now and is out all year with no incoming money as no team will sign a pitcher out for a year, especially one with his history. Teams will want to see him actually rehabbing at the least, and then they won't give him more than a one year deal.

Showing a bit of loyalty could go a long way to the extending of Trout.

With time to explore options, Richards learned more about stem cell treatment and decided to give it a shot. In mid-May, Dr. Steve H. Yoon extracted the stem cells from the marrow in Richards' pelvic bone and injected them into his elbow.

In fact, I remember distinctly that both his first and second opinions said to get TJ.  But he said it doesn't make since because his arm doesn't even hurt, and then he decided to try PRP and stem cell treatment.

Anyway, he is the most overrated Angels player ever, had one good season and everyone has treated him like an ace.

And he's was deemed healed and then re-injured it.  Getting surgery was no guarantee he wouldn't reinjure his elbow...it's not a magic elixir

I read it once then skimmed it again.  I didn’t see where it said it was recommended to get surgery.

This one has a great quote.

Quote

"Quick fixes are fraught with danger," the medical expert said. "Time will tell."

Both articles noted that tears as bad as his require surgery.

Not only that, but there have been quite a few pitchers with multiple TJ surgeries.
