Has Skaggs turned a corner?

From what little I saw of yesterday's game, he looked really good. And giving up two runs to the Yanks is pretty good. Imagine if we continue to get outings in this series like Heaney's and Skaggs? We're going to win a lot more than lose.

Heaney and Skaggs both looked better other than the continuing pitch count issues.

If you remove Skaggs' one bad inning in the Boston start, he's sitting at 31.1 IP, a 2.02 ERA, 24 hits allowed, 1 HR allowed, 10 walks, and 31 strikeouts. And he's faced pretty good teams in Houston, NYY, Boston, and even Oakland's offense. 

He'll start getting deeper into games I think. He's going through what Lackey/Weaver went through the years before they emerged as top-of-rotation workhorses, where one bad inning cost them runs and a bunch of pitches, but were overall flawless.

He's always had the stuff but just lacked consistency. I was always a believer that this was his year and with him mixing in his change-up he has looked alot better.  I compared him to Cole hamels and it looks like he's on his way.

He really looks on the verge of a breakout. He is pitching well, but has been using about 20 pitcher per inning. Sooner or later, you've gotta thing he'll find a way to bring that number down, and we will be seeing some really great starts out of him.

Amazing what a well spotted fastball and change up can do for a pitcher whose best pitch is a big looping curve.

change is a plus pitch.  He still nibbles a fair amount though.  Which is fine.  I'd rather have him give up 2 runs over 6 than 4 over 8.
