Cowart at SS, interesting

Not really. He's already such a good third baseman that you likely won't see him play there as much. Most of his time will come at 2B, SS, 1B and LF.

His role in Anaheim would very much be a fluid thing, constantly shifting. He probably won't play SS because Cozart is a great defensive backup there, but if there's an injury he'd be a backup there. Same exact thing can be said for 2B and the corner OF.

Basically, Cowart is the Cozart backup. He'll do everything Zach does.

While we are getting our a** handed to us by the Sox, here some good news on our prospects

watch out marsh is getting hot. he hitting 308 with an obp of 419.

Gatto with a dominate start today- 0 runs, 9ks in 5innings.

Castillo with a nice rebound start

Gatto ended up going 6 scoreless with 9k.

Leon Rivas - age 20 in A ball has a .472 obp with 10 bb in 8  games.

Isaac Mattson is interesting.  6'3" RHer our of Pitt.  19th round pick in 2017.  1.44 era last year between orem and azl with 47k in 31.1ip.  All in relief.

Two appearances this year as a starter with 10k and 2er in 9ip.  Anyone got news on his stuff?

Cowart with a good start 3/5, 2b

Carter with 2hrs

blash with a hr

JMF with 3 more hits.

If Blash & Carter were to spend an entire year in triple a they could seriously combine for 70 home runs. Blash has 5 and Carter has 6 in 15 games.

4/19/18
Salt Lake (9-6) won 9-6 vs. Sacramento (6-8)
Michael Hermosillo: 2-5, K, CS, OF assist
Kaleb Cowart ('18 debut, SS): 3-5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Chris Carter: 2-5, 2 HR (6), 3 RBI, 2 K
Jose Miguel Fernandez: 3-5, R, 2B, RBI - slashing .327/.417/.462/.878 through 14 games. 7 walks, 6 strikeouts.
Jabari Blash (CF): 1-4, HR (5), 2 RBI, BB, K
Ian Krol: 1.2 IP, 3 K
I think it's worth noting Cowart playing SS and Blash playing CF. Being able to handle those positions boosts their chances of big-league playing time.

Mobile (7-6) won 2-1 in 10 innings vs. Biloxi (9-5)
Brennon Lund: 0-3, R, 2 BB, 2 K
Matt Thaiss: 1-5, RBI, K, walk-off hit
Vicente Campos: 2 IP, H, 4  K

Inland Empire (7-8) won 8-3 vs. Lancaster (7-8)
Luis Rengifo: 2-3, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB, 2 SB (10) - Hermosillo led all Angel minor-leaguers with 35 SBs last season. Rengifo is ~1/3 of the way there after two weeks.
Jonah Todd: 1-5, R, 4 RBI
Joe Gatto: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K - I see him sort of falling into a similar career path as Jake Jewell

Burlington (4-5) lost 3-5 at Clinton (7-3)
Leonardo Rivas: 1-2, R, 3 BB, E (3) - slashing .269/.472/.346/.818 in 8 games.
Brandon Marsh: 2-3, R, 2B

As the weather warms, I expect even more power than that. Blash is just now getting comfortable with the footing adjustment he was toying with in Spring Training. In a full season at Salt Lake, I bet they can hit 90 combined.

Luis Rengifo leads the minors in SB's and Suarez leads the minors in strikeouts.

I think Moyer's 6 HR is tied with a handful of ML's for the most in that category as well.

More importantly, Regnifo is 2nd in the Cal League in walks with 12 so far, which has him as 12th overall in OB%, even though he only has a .255 BA.
