As per Rich Eisen:

There's an idea being floated in MLB of a manager being allowed to bat whoever he wants when trailing in the 9th. MLB exec: "No other sport has the best players sitting on the bench in the final minutes of a game. Imagine LeBron, Brady, Renaldo watching from the sidelines" twitter.com/RichEisenSh…

One #MLB executive told @richeisen about an idea to improve excitement in the game by allowing managers to put anyone up to bat in the 9th inning if trailing. Good idea or crazy? pic.twitter.com/IgM6Zro

Terrible idea!

Way to F up a great sport.  Might be the worst idea I have ever heard.

Let's make it more exciting and require the pitchers throw underhand if they are leading in the 9th.  Or maybe that is too extreme, and the team should start with a runner on base dependent on how many runs they are down?  first base, if only down one.  second base, if only down two.  third base, if only down three.  More than that, they get automatic runs!

See I can even be a baseball commissioner.

If trailing in the ninth the trailing team should be allowed to supply their pitcher along with what hitter they want.

Why doesn’t the MLB start a new league, and call it the Continental league. They had plans to do this back in the 1950s before they decided to expand teams to the West Coast. They were going to have the American League, the National League, and the Continental league. The Continental league was going to be teams made up of the largest cities in the Western states. At the time this was going to be mainly teams from the old Pacific Coast league.

Once Rob Manfred gets this new league started he can try his new stupid rules there and see how many fans it draws to the games. We would have the National League with traditional baseball rules. The American League with the designated hitter rule. And the Continental league with all of Manfred’s stupid rules.

For all I care they can put the new teams in Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, Europe, Guam, the Middle East, Antarctica, and a half dozen other non exciting places.

Angels down 4-0 in the bottom of the ninth.

Now leading off for your Angels, Mike Trout. Trout is 3-4 for in the game, two doubles and a triple.

And he Singles to first.

Pinch running for Trout, Eric Young!

Now batting again, Mike Trout!

Triple into the corner, Young scores. 4-1.

Runner on Second. No Outs. Pinch Runner, Kaleb Cowart!

Now Batting for the third time in the inning, Mike Trout! Strike Out, bummer.

Runner still on Second, One Out. Now Batting, Mike Trout!

Home run! Cowart and Trout score!

Angels down 4-3, now batting for your Angels, Miiiiiiiike Trout!

Trout singles from first.

Pinch running is Eric Young!

And you guessed it, Now batting for your Angels, #27, Mike Trout! Trout needs a second HR to hit two cycles in the game, and the pitch....belted high into right field, hits above the line, Angels win 5-4! Trout was 8-9 in the game, with two cycles, and a strikeout!

DUMB IDEA. But you know, Trout getting 1400 AB's in a season pretty much kills any record he may not be able to break otherwise.

My brain says I should hate this but I'm....struggling.
