Strad, inducing can take a long time.  When my wife was induced, my daughter wasn't born until 30 hours after they started.  They usually pick a date when they think a bed will be open.

That makes more sense. I thought it was more like a C-Section, where it was scheduled and all would be done in a few hours.

Both of my kids were a week early. Both times, my wife had the citrus chicken salad at Corner Bakery for lunch on the day she went into labor. The last time we literally had just come from a Dr. Appt. and they said she was nowhere near ready to go into labor.

So, go have a salad.

This is pretty much the idea. We need to call the hospital at 2:30am to see if a bed will be available. If there is, then we will be there at 4am. They will give her meds to induce labor. HOPEFULLY my wife's body will respond and begin a natural birth. A C-section is a last resort. It's going to be a very loooonnngg day. I'll probably take my last peaceful nap tonight before heading out.
