Two of my nieces are pregnant, I told them both they could name the baby after me. I love the sound of Uncle Baby.

If Mike Trout went to the hospital, the baby would jump out in order to get a picture taken with him.

Just saying, Mike Trout is the answer to everything.

This was taken about 30 min after being born.

 

Although everyone told me this would be an experience that I would cherish, I really had no idea until actually living through it. I went through all kinds of emotions in such a short time from anxious, to happy, to fear (I'll explain shortly), to pure joy. 

 

Laina was admitted at 3:30am and the baby arrived at 2:45pm. Going in, Laina was confident she was going to due a natural birth with NO epidural. We were all anxious for the baby to arrive and hear that first cry. But when Avila came out, she was silent. The nurses immediately started working on the baby to get her to breathe. Laina was watching as 6-8 nurses were doing their best to clear her lungs. All I could do was tell my wife to calm down as she was starting to panic. But in the back of my mind I too was greatly concerned. What felt like eternity, we heard her first cry and knew everything was going to be OK.

 

But shortly after, Laina started to have complications of her own. Her doctor was having issues with the afterbirth stuff. Next thing I know is her heart rate rapidly increases, 3 more doctors enter the room immediately adding IV's, they clear out all the family (excluding me), the room was full of blue scrubs and white coats, and blood...lots of it. I won't go into detail of what I saw since you might pass out reading it. I don't know how I even stayed conscious. All I could do was put my faith in the great doctors and nurses that were working on her and hold back my tears. Last thing I wanted was my wife to look over and see me worried. Literally within 5 minutes the doctors remedied the complication and Laina's heartbeat came back down to normal. NOW we were finally in the clear and everything has been smooth thus far. 

 

In all of this, Laina gave a natural birth WITHOUT the needle. I have a full new respect of my wife. Never again will I bitch about having an ingrown toenail.

Incredible story, what a tense time you had after the delivery.  Glad everything went well.

 

I was amazed with our doctors and nurses. While my wife was lying in the hospital bed in labor, the nurse turned her over to her other side  and the baby's heartbeat just stopped. She quickly called in a doctor who ran in and pushed on my wife's stomach to turn the baby around. Apparently it was being chocked by the umbilical cord.  Although we were both completely freaking out, the doctors and nurses all performed in unison, each person had a specific job to do, and did it perfectly.

 

Our son had a similar delivery to your daughter, he came out and stopped breathing. Once again, all nurses and doctor completely took over and got him breathing again. It was a remarkable sight to watch them all work together. I am amazed on how well everything goes considering all the potential problems that can occur.

childbirth is a tough thing. watching your wife struggle through it? nothing harder to watch, especially since there's really nothing you can do to help. you're just there to comfort and help her keep focused.

 

my wife was 39 when our daughter was born, and it was a difficult delivery. i'm sitting at her feet and all i can think about is the ten thousand stories i'd heard all my life about women who died during childbirth. i could hardly stand it. because our daughter didn't drop done far enough, the doc had to use a suction cup to help get her out. cup kept popping off. he said "this is the last attempt. if she doesn't come out this time, we're going to do a c-section." that would have probably been a whole lot easier to watch. 

 

i didn't stick around to watch him do the episiotomy or to sew it up.
