That was his only appearance with the Angels last year.

 

This year he's 4-0 with the Rangers' AAA team.

Granted the Rangers' AAA team plays its' home games at a much lower altitude than the Halos' AAA team does.

We did have one, Brad Mills, who shut out the O's for 5 innings last July.

Problem is, we never saw him pitch for us again as a starter.

But that's a relatively small sample size.  Didn't his fastball top out at like 84?  That's kinda scary.

That's true, but Weaver has Greg Maddux-like command.  Other than knuckle ball pitchers and Jamie Moyer, I don't know many pitchers who can get away with a low to mid-80's fastball. I don't think Brad Mills would have been a major league success story--but I could be wrong.

Weaver's is more like 87-89. Anybody who says otherwise blows goats.

He did pitch well for 3 innings, retiring 9 straight after the first two batters homered and singled.

But as expected, he imploded by the 4th inning.

Fortunately, Lowe for a change actually did decently, followed by Kohn, DeLaRosa, and Frieri.
