Something to think about. All the anti gun stuff sounds good until you need one. The blacks use them so it isn’t rocket science. I hope I never have to pull the trigger but I won’t hesitate if my family is threatened. Guns are actually liberating. I stopped and helped an old black man and teenager last week. I probably don’t stop and help him if I’m not armed.

If I had a firearm, I'd want firearm training. Even then, in the video you posted, their camera/security system bought them just enough time to arm themselves and scare the off the perpetrators. If they don't grab their gun in time, would it have mattered?

I personally feel safer without a gun in my home, but that's just me.

As a well-established middle class underachieving suburban white guy, my philosophy is to just always make sure that you are not the path of least resistance. Just as you don't have to outrun the bear if you can outrun at least one of your hiking partners, you don't have to sweat intruders as long your neighbor's house appears more accessible and poorly defended than yours. Make sure cameras are quite visible at your entrances, put a NRA sticker on your window and only leave your crappy stuff in sight. Yes I do have a loaded .357 in my nightstand but I doubt I'll ever have to use it since it doesn't appear that anything in my house is worth the hassle it would take to break in
