I remember when this team had a fire, when the pen would come in and lock down games, and it always felt like the offense was ready to make an amazing comeback.

 

Its been a fun year, better than anyone expected. Hopefully we can build on it next year.

The point is that the Angels, Twins, Rangers, Mariners and the rest ALL suck in various ways and are usually exposed head-to-head with  Boston, New York, Cleveland and even Houston. There is a tier with four teams. And it drops sharply after that. 

If you are in the second tier, you survive as long as possible, sucking along the way, and maybe something good happens. You get a chance to face a clearly superior team in that team's home park and maybe you can win once. Then, it's postseason -- even if it ends 3 games later.

Don't we have the season head to head with Boston and New York 4-2? 

A wildcard spot is a wildcard spot and these guys have a chance to make it. It's baseball and in a one game playoff you never know. These guys aren't showing any sense of urgency or desire to get to that WC game. 

The Indians sent out their getaway day lineup combined with a bullpen game... you'd think the Angels would be in a better spot right now than down 4-1 in the 6th

The Angels played well against Boston in six games. But I said the Angels and their WC field are "usually" exposed. And they have been.

Anything can happen in a wild card play in, so it IS worth the effort to reach it. And a flawed Angels team has tried mightily to get there -- 43 or more comeback wins attest to that. But Cleveland -- this week -- today -- is 27-1 in its past 28. We have two hits and Trout has walked twice.

Make that 3 hits and one for Trout. But until this becomes a meaningful rally,  this will be a frustrating day that can turn around Friday.

They are just one game behind the Dogs for best MLB record.   Plenty to play for

It's crazy that a MLB team is about to go to 27-1 in its' past 28 games.
