The departure comes after POLITICO reported Daniel Lee was named California's first superintendent of equity last year despite living on the East Coast and running his own business there. California's human resources department told POLITICO that state workers can live elsewhere only under rare circumstances where out-of-state residency is required for the job, such as staff lobbying Congress in Washington, D.C.

I think I’ve probably mentioned this here but in my little legal sphere the equivalent of a Supreme Court Justice is the WCAB Commissioners.  They’re generally former workers comp judges and they’re the first level of appeals all our cases go to and they all know their shit (Commissioner is just the name they have, they’re essentially appeals court judges). Or at least they used to.

In 2018 before he left office, Gov. Brown appointed some old hippie friend of his as a Commissioner.  Dude isn’t a lawyer (I think he’s an artist and community activist).  He has no experience in workers comp and as far as I know so far hasn’t even participated in any rulings (which I guess is for the best).

But dudes getting paid like $150K yearly with major benefits to do nothing on a job he’s totally unqualified to do.  Crooks indeed.
