AOC torched for doubting existence of rampant smash-and-grab robberies

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was slammed by Republicans and business leaders following an interview where she cast doubt on whether rampant smash-and-grabs are actually occurring.

"A lot of these allegations of organized retail theft are not actually panning out," Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview with The Washington Times last week.

"I believe it’s a Walgreens in California cited it, but the data didn’t back it up," she added.

The comments sparked pushback from retail leaders and Republican lawmakers, including from Walgreens.

"Organized retail crime is one of the top challenges facing" the company, Walgreens told The Washington Times, adding that the crime "has evolved beyond shoplifting and petty theft to the sale of stolen and counterfeit goods online."

Why would libs deny that the crimes are happening?

San Francisco crime surge prompts city to suspend cannabis tax to help dispensaries versus drug dealers

City supervisors in San Francisco unanimously approved an ordinance suspending the city's business tax on cannabis retailers last week.

San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, who penned the ordinance, said in a statement to the San Francisco Examiner that the suspension is intended to help out legal cannabis retailers who are trying to compete with illegal drug dealers and a spike in theft.

DA refuses to talk as city reels from smash-and-grab robbery epidemic

The head of the union that represents nearly 1,000 prosecutors within Los Angeles County accused District Attorney George Gascon on Monday of keeping silent amid a surge in brazen smash-and-grab burglaries and robberies that have become increasingly violent.

Eric Siddall, vice president of the Association of Los Angeles Deputy District Attorneys, said the top prosecutor cares more about the rights of criminal suspects than crime victims as gangs of thieves continue to loot retail stores for thousands of dollars in merchandise, often in front of customers and staff.

Last week, 14 suspects allegedly involved in 11 smash-and-grab robberies last month were arrested and back on the street hours later because of zero-bail policies. They remain free while awaiting their cases to play out in court.

"If you look at the 14 people arrested, they could have been charged, there could have been bail amounts set, but none of that was done because the district attorney refuses to take a leadership position on this issue," Siddall told Fox News. "He's created an atmosphere devoid of accountability."

This is exactly what Gascon and those that voted for him wanted from the start. I guess this means his tenure as DA has been a success

You think gascon and people that voted for him wanted an increase in crime?  Fuck you’re dense.

I think the guy is trash as much as anyone else but cmon.

What else did people think was going to happen when you implement policies that are softer on crime and don't put them in jail?  He was open about his intentions when he ran for DA. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.
