La La Land awarded Best Picture only to be interrupted in the middle of their speeches to announce there was an mistake and that Moonlight was the actual winner.

Moonlight was indeed fantastic. Manchester by the Sea would have been my personal choice but didn't seem to have a chance, Moonlight was my 2nd choice, so definitely not a bad choice.

It actually was a pretty good show overall. Kimmel wasn't bad and the ending was at the very least entertaining as hell.

La la Land is pretty great too. Just a joyful movie. 

Only best picture nominees I didn't see were Hidden Figures and Fences.

I'm kind of interested in La La Land, but I'm just not sure. I'm a big music theater fan, but tend to really not like film adaptations of Broadway musicals. The only ones I've ever realy liked was the movie version of 1776 and West Side Story. But La La Land isn't adapted, and since it was made for the big screen, I'm thinking I'll enjoy it. 

Also, there was an ad for the new Beauty and Beast movie, and the autotuning of Emma Watson is ridiculous. Almost sounds completely synthetic.

Don't go into LaLa Land expecting a traditional musical and you will be fine. Also don't expect great singing voices or a lot of chemistry.

I turned it off when it got real political.  What I saw from Kimmel was good, and he kept the politics to mild sarcasm. 

Although I do find it ironic, that the champions for free speech, are not even allowing free speech at their big awards.  And saying that if you want to broadcast anything involving the Oscars red carpet, you have to pay.

I never even considered watching it for a moment.  I did read that a woman abuser won the best actor award.  

I find that intriguing and quite hypocritical of Hollywood.

I didn't see any of the best picture noms, but I heard moonlight, hell or highwater and hacksaw ridge were all fantastic. 

didnt watch the oscars. ive been over that nonsense since eyes wide shut didnt win shit, and paul giamatti didnt even get a f*ck nod for sideways.
