My first real memories of his acting was in Aliens.

One of his most brilliant roles, IMO, was his portrayal of the psychotic Roman Emperor Caligula in the BBC series "I, Claudius". If you have not seen this series, it's worth it.

2017 strikes again!

I took my girlfriend to see Aliens and her brother tagged along. The scene where the egg opens and Hurt is attacked freaked her out,  her brother nearly crawled under the seat.  

The dinner scene I thought for sure she was done and asked if she wanted to leave. We had just started dating so she was trying hard to stick with it. 

It was possibly the scariest film I had ever seen,  Carol spent half the time with her eyes closed. Her brother was just plain in shock through the whole film. It was awesome.

Alien was really scary. I saw it I think at the Egyptian in Hollywood wide screen etc which was a big deal for 1979 or whatever. It was fkn great.

The whole promo for the film was an egg and "in space no one can hear you scream" or something like that.

I went with an ex-girlfriend to watch Alien at a drive-in, but we had to go back a second time since we didn't watch much of the movie.

He was great in "1984" as Winston Smith. That was also Richard Burton's last film appearance.
