It is a tough ailment to figure out.

But is it normal to wait two months before having surgery TWO off-seasons in a row?

It sucks that he has to go through it.   Just odd that he waited both times

His first case of planter fasciitis ripped in season so he never had surgery. It did disable him but before he went down he was the 3rd best hitter on the team, playing on one foot. Last season he led the team with 31 home runs and a still respectable 114 OPS+, again, playing on one foot.

These are more doctor decisions than Pujols putting off surgery. They want to see if treatment when he isn't playing can restore health to an ailing ligament, muscle, tendon, etc. There really is no time during the season to rest so the healing process sometimes never takes place but the off season most player reduce their daily activity and can follow a physical therapy plan.

It was one month in 2015.

And the injuries were different. That was more his heel. This was the plantar fascia.
