That was a complete fail all the way. Not only does Hamilton score,  the catcher dogged to the ball then throws it out of Lackey's reach and the guy from first goes all the way to third.

Yeah I don't get the complaints.  Lackey's an asshole but he's a winner, and still has his stuff.  He was the top pitcher during our greatest run in franchise history in the 2000's.

He was really bad for much of that Boston contract. His revival came after his TJ year.

How did we lose out on having lackey?  He turned down our 4/60 and went to boston on a 5/82.  Then rocked a 4.4era in 2010, a 6.41 era in 2011, and then missed 2012.  

Then he had to play for league min in 2015 because he wanted to take more money from boston.  

If he takes 4/60 from the halos, recovers from TJ after 2012 with his solid 2013, then he becomes a free agents and probably makes an additional 15mil.  

Dude cost himself 15mil.  But hey, he got to win another WS and play with his Napoli.  

Lackey is competitive yet still a douche.  They are not mutually exclusive.  Showing up your teammates is weak sauce regardless.

While i agree his time in boston wasnt the greatest, the running narrative on trumbo here is that hes successful now because of the division. Going to fenway id think would be the same effect on lackey (or anyone else). Not to mention he had to get his arm fixed. If we ignore that, then we have to say dipoto was an idiot for flipping trumbo for skaggs. Or write off richards as an assett.

My point being that the angels chose not to negotiate when boston stepped in with a higher offer. The angels wouldnt even have had to match it...but they didnt want to budge at all.

Lackey would have ultimately been a better investment than cj wilson (though hindsight is what it is). Had we signed him though, it may have kept us from flipping naps for wells, and possibly not making the haren trade (who i liked a lot, but was the wrong move at the time)

He and Bartolo Colon would both fit nicely into our rotation.

Lackey left 7 years ago. Colon 9 years ago. They've both missed entire seasons. If Wilson signs with the Yankees this winter and wins 18 games somebody will have to get busy running around to AW households distributing boxes of tissue.

That's more on Ross than Lackey IMO. First he let what looked like a strike go to the backstop and then he overthrew Lackey who looked ready to make a tag. 

Yes Lackey has a track record of showing his team mates up, but fans can't have it both ways. One cannot rip on GA type guys who play without emotion and then rip on Lackey for having a lack of control of his emotions.
