Angels acquire Jose Valdez

Recently turned 26 year old reliever, high octane fastball, dynamic stuff, just hasn't been able to miss bats. DFA'd by Detroit, comes to the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. If the Angels can work with him a bit in us control and movement, he could be a shut down reliever.

Eppler is still hard at work.

It's a short time so far.    Eppler makes JIF peanut butter with position players.   With pitchers, it's been mainly rancid peanut butter so far.

I like what he's doing because he's bringing in guys with a degree of upside like Chacin, Lincecum, Marte and Valdez. If things roll right, they not only have a chance of helping the team, but they could be traded for prospects at the deadline.

The way Angel pitchers are dropping, both in the rotation and in the bullpen, just about anybody who can throw a baseball reasonably accurately should be a help.

Was ST weather any different this year?    Sometimes, if it's too cold, the pitchers' prep from the season can be affected.

I've never seen anything like this season.
