According to spotrac, we are 7th with 439 dl days so far.  Dogs have had 672.  

It just feels like more because we don't have a farm system.

I think it also depends on who exactly is on the DL.  The Dodgers haven't lost anyone near Simmons, Richards and Heaney's value.  Then you compound it with the loss of Tropeano, and Skaggs and Wilson just not returning and you have a serious problem.  You also have to taken into consideration which specific roster component is affected.  The Angels have lost FIVE starting pitchers to the DL.  

Name any team you want and I can pretty much guarantee they won't be competitive if they lost five starting pitchers.  The fact that Chacin and Shoemaker have stepped it up (as well as Lincecum on his way) has made this somewhat more palatable, yet painful all the same.

I just don't think any team in baseball has lost as much value to the DL as we have.

Joe Smith is the sixth Angel pitcher to be placed on the disabled list.  They've got a pretty impressive staff on the DL.

Morin was suppose to be the Angels seventh inning guy until he blew up at the tail end of last season.  With Smith on the DL, maybe he can fit into the step up role.
