His contract could be worth more than $100 million. His incentive bonuses are based on starts and innings pitched, beginning at 15 GS and 90 IP. It's not based on him pitching well.

His cost to the Dodgers this year will be $17 million.

Just thought I'd add a few facts to the thread.

Arte felt it was to risky to pay for a successful free agent.

If he doesn't make another start, his cost this year will be $1 million signing bonus, $3 million yearly salary, and $125k opening day bonus.  $4.125 million.  He will make $6.5 million more if he makes 32 starts.

 

Amortize his $20 million posting fee additionally.

The dodgers are required to pay $13 million the first year and the rest in year 2 to Kung Fu's Japanese team.

Ergo, $17 million in year 1
